Ottawa (Ont.) – Canada Post's commitment to socially responsible business practices continues to have a positive impact on its efforts to reduce lost-time injury frequency. In 2014, the rate of lost-time injury frequency declined to 4.2 per 100-full-time employees, a six-per-cent reduction compared to the previous year. The results are published in the 2014 Social Responsibility Report, available online.

The report also highlights the contributions made through the Canada Post Community Foundation for Children, with more than $2.8 million in funds raised by employees and consumers disbursed to 215 community projects across the country between 2013 and 2014. The funds supported a wide range of initiatives such as helping children with terminal illness go to summer camp and reducing waiting times for teens seeking mental health support. Grants totaled more than $1.3 million in 2014.

Other highlights from the 2014 Social Responsibility Report:

  • Canada Post certified 10 building projects under the requirements of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDTM) program. The green building program recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. Nineteen Canada Post buildings are now LEED certified.
  • The Corporation added more than 800 new fuel-efficient Ford Transit ConnectTM vehicles and removed approximately 50 older vehicles. As a result, fuel-efficient vehicles now make up more than half of the vehicles on the road.
