Service offers ‘most consumer-centric approach’: judges
OTTAWA – Canada Post’s efforts to innovate and offer online shoppers greater convenience have been recognized with a prestigious global award.
FlexDeliveryTM, the service that allows customers to direct the items they order online to any post office they choose, won the Delivery on Demand Award at the World Post & Parcel Awards 2016. Canada Post demonstrated “the most consumer-centric approach” in creating a delivery service that offers choice, flexibility and control over where, when and how consumers can pick up their parcels, the judges decided.
The highly coveted World Post & Parcel Awards recognize innovation, technology and best practices in the global postal and express delivery industry. Known as the World Mail Awards since 2000, they were rebranded for 2016 to reflect the global industry’s historic shift from mail to e-commerce parcels. The winners were announced at the awards event in Warsaw, Poland on June 15, 2016.
Launched in May 2015, FlexDelivery allows customers to direct their online purchase to a post office near their workplace, their child’s caregiver, their cottage or a travel destination – or any place in Canada. Roughly one in three households has nobody at home when Canada Post attempts to deliver a parcel at the door, so FlexDelivery can mean no more missed deliveries. It’s free and easy for consumers to sign up for FlexDelivery in just a few minutes on canadapost.ca.
“Consumers are demanding flexibility and convenience when it comes to delivery. Our teams have met that need in an innovative yet easy-to-use way,” says René Desmarais, Senior Vice-President, Parcels, at Canada Post. “Posts around the world are innovating. That’s all the more reason to be thrilled that the industry recognizes our FlexDelivery service as the most consumer-centric delivery experience available.”
“With FlexDelivery, we put power in the hands of the consumer,” says Paul Bernard, Director of Product Management, Parcels at Canada Post. “At the beta testing stage, we asked consumers to journal their experiences with their online orders, knowing this service had to meet Canadians’ high expectations.”
Canada Post, the country’s No. 1 parcel company, delivers two of every three parcels Canadians order online. It also has the largest retail network in the country, with more post offices than McDonald’s and Tim Horton’s, combined, have outlets in Canada. Nearly 6,000 post offices in the network become personal parcel pickup points with FlexDelivery.
