The Canada Post Community Foundation for Children kicks off campaign with fundraising stamps

OTTAWA – Canada Post has launched its annual fundraising campaign to improve the lives of children and youths with the unveiling of two new Community Foundation stamps.
The stamps are simple but iconic, with the hopes and dreams of youth rendered in the line drawing of a small bird. The illustration is by renowned Canadian art director and graphic designer Andrew Lewis and appears in two brightly coloured variations (click here for stamp images).
The stamps give customers a way to donate $1 per 10-stamp booklet, or 10 cents in the case of an Official First Day Cover, directly to the Canada Post Community Foundation for Children. The Foundation supports breakfast programs, anti-bullying initiatives, camps for children living with serious illnesses, early literacy programs, crisis lines, health programs and more. “The sale of these stamps, and the enthusiastic fundraising of our employees, helps our Foundation deliver a brighter future for children across the country,” says Deepak Chopra, President and CEO of Canada Post. “We deeply appreciate the response the stamps, and our request for support for the Foundation, gets every year from Canadians.”
The campaign runs from September 26 to October 30 and raises funds through several channels including an in-store campaign and the sale of the stamps, which customers can purchase at canadapost.ca or at any Canada Post outlet.
In 2016, 125 community organizations across Canada shared almost $1.2 million raised in last year’s campaign. The Foundation granted approximately $4 million to some 320 community projects over the years 2013, 2014 and 2015.
About the stamps
The “semi-postal” PermanentTM stamps have a surcharge of $1 a booklet, with funds going directly to the Canada Post Community Foundation for Children. They appear in two colour variations of an identical image and are printed by Lowe Martin in seven colours. Booklets of 10 contain five of each colour variation. The two single-stamp Official First Day Covers are cancelled in Ottawa. The booklets measure 74 mm x 230 mm flat or 74 mm x 155 mm folded. The first day covers measure 190 mm x 112 mm.
