OTTAWA – The Canada Post Community Foundation for Children is accepting applications for 2017 grants. More than $1 million is available for charities, school programs and other groups serving the needs of young people. Applications will be available between March 1 and April 5, and are open to national and grassroots organizations across the country.
Making a difference
Since 2013, more than 440 organizations have received funding from the Foundation. Over $5 million has gone to outfit libraries and computer labs, to replace sports equipment and build playgrounds, as well as other initiatives. The Foundation has also supported:
- Breakfast and after-school programs.
- Camp programs for children with learning disabilities.
- Mental health services for children, youth and their families.
- Programs focused on healthy body-image and safe media use.
About the Foundation
An annual five-week fundraising campaign generates the Foundation’s income. Every fall, post offices across the country accept donations and Canada Post employees make voluntary payroll contributions. Sales from a dedicated stamp also support the cause.
Information about the Foundation and its granting process and criteria, including a grant application FAQ, is available on the Foundation’s website: canadapost.ca/community.
