It’s up to you to decide what types of activity you want us to save in your canadapost.ca account. For example, if you use our app, you can decide whether you want to allow your phone to share your location with our app by managing your phone settings. You can also choose to disable cookies in your browser.

We enable both online and physical marketing. For example, we may present you with digital ads of some of our products or services. These ads may be of interest to you based on what pages you visited on our website. We may partner with advertising agencies to place cookies^{Footnote 1}, beacons^{Footnote 2}, or pixel tags^{Footnote 3} to help deliver ads on third-party websites that customers interested in our products and services may visit often.

You may subscribe to receive information about our product or service offerings by email. You may also receive email offers from us if you're an existing customer who has bought or signed up for our services or products in the past 2 years. If you'd rather not receive these emails from us, you can let us know by clicking on the unsubscribe link in an email you receive from us. You can also manage your preferences in your candapost.ca account. We may have to continue to send you certain emails, such as service alerts or updates, if we're legally required to do so. For example, you may still receive an email to confirm your order.

We help mailers with the accuracy of their mailing lists as well as enable businesses to better connect with their customers. If you wish to remove your address from our marketing database, you can opt out.

Many local and national businesses distribute unaddressed advertising and flyers. Through the Consumer Choice Program, you may opt out of receiving Neighbourhood Mail™ delivered by us. This option doesn’t stop the delivery of unaddressed advertising or flyers by parties other than Canada Post.

You can manage your privacy preferences at the product and service level too.

Mail Forwarding^TM helps you to take care of your mail when you move or temporarily move to a new address. You can forward your personal or business mail from your Canadian address to anywhere in the world. This way you’ll make sure you’re not missing infrequent mailings such as tax slips, licenses, or health card renewals.

You can extend, modify, or cancel your Mail Forwarding service online by signing into the self-serve tool or at any post office by presenting the original receipt.

FlexDelivery^TM allows you to have parcels sent directly to the post office of your choice. It’s secure, convenient, and free.

Parcel preferences

Package redirection is a fee-based service allowing Canada Post commercial customers to change the destination of shipments while in transit. The service helps businesses:

• Prevent delivery of fraudulent purchases
• Get ahead of product recalls
• Rectify shipping errors

Delivery preference is a free service allowing you to choose a safe drop location from a pre-defined list. You can manage your delivery preference using our Track tool and mobile app.

When you’re waiting for a parcel that requires payment, you can pay^{Footnote 4} your duty and taxes online instead of at the time of delivery. Just use our Track tool or mobile app.

Identity+ app lets you prove your identity online and enables fast and secure access to government, financial, health care and other trusted ID enabled services.

Once the initial identity verification process is complete, you are issued a Canada Post Identity+ digital ID. Your identity information remains in your complete control. Your Identity+ digital ID is installed on your mobile device and immediately erased from our servers. The information is also encrypted such that only your mobile device can decrypt it. A private key proving that you own this identity is generated in – and remains on – your mobile device. This is the only place the private key exists. After your Identity+ digital ID is issued, no personal information is kept or stored on the servers at Canada Post or Bluink (our trusted authentication services provider). The only information that remains on Bluink’s servers is your anonymous Identity+ digital ID identifier and registered mobile device push notification token used to contact your mobile device during online transactions.
